Top 10 Tuesday: Series I Want to Finish

A new Tuesday, a new prompt for Top 10 Tuesday. This week the prompt is REWIND - pick any previous topic and I chose: series I've started and want to finish.

Thanks to Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl for hosting another week of Top Ten Tuesday. I enjoy participating each week for a couple reasons. I'm a compulsive list maker and love a good list. And, I love a connection with other readers as I wander their book blogs. Here are some of the series I intend to finish.

The Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne is top of my mind because I've joined a read along this year and will be reading one a month. Hexed is #2 of 9 books in the series and so far they are entertaining and full of interesting oddball characters.

Jade Legacy is the last in a trilogy I started last spring. I WILL finish this series this year! I loved the first two books; I don't remember what put me off track, but I'm determined to get back ON track.

Boundary Waters is the 2nd in the Cork O'Connor series - I absolutely love the writing style, the settings, and the interaction between tribal Ojibwe and the nearby white community.

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher is another series I started a couple years ago, loved the first book and can't seem to get back to them. My son has the series, has loaned it to me, and it sits in a stack by my nightstand. I like a good magical creature story and I remember particularly liking Butcher's world building, so Fool Moon is next up.

Seven Days is the third installment of the detective Benny Griessel series set in South Africa. The author/series was recommended by Mareli of Elza Reads and I'm thoroughly enjoying the characters and the evocative African setting.

The Red Rising fantasy series absolutely grabbed me and didn't let go through the first 4 books. Dark Age is the fifth and has been on my Kindle for years (I even pre-ordered it!) Since then a 6th has come out. What makes us stop a series we're enjoying? There were lots of characters and I'm sure I'm not going to remember all the connections and I think that's part of the delay.......

I've read books 1 and 4 in this series and now want to fill it in. Lawyer and previous con-man Eddie Flynn is a complex character and I love a good legal drama, so these are high on my list. The Plea is #2 in the series.

This is a series I return to every couple years - The First Rule is book #13 in the Elvis Cole, Joe Pike series. Cole is an attorney and Pike his investigator and they make a great team - good twisty mysteries, courtroom drama, quips and touches of humor throughout.

Then I have to include two series that I want to start and finish this year.

I swear it seems like everyone has read this but me and I keep meaning to pick it up...... I AM going to read Finlay Donovan is Killing It.

And, The Poppy War has been on my radar for a couple years - THIS is the year I read this one too.

So, with all these series to read, how am I going to have time for anything else??? I look forward to seeing what Rewind topic you chose.

Welcome to Bookshelf Journeys.

It's my goal to provide real reviews of the books I read without totally rehashing every plot. I'll never spoil a story by giving away a plot twist! Hopefully you'll find one or two of interest and will discover a new book or author to add to YOUR TBR list.  Take a moment to explore, read a couple reviews, and let me know what you think.

                            TIPS

For your convenience, I use #hashtags in the reviews and when you click on one, you'll find more books with that theme. Hopefully you'll find it a helpful way to navigate the site and find books you'll enjoy. I've also recently added tags that will show up at the end of each review that serve the same purpose.

The review ratings are based on a 5 star  (1/2 stars sometimes) system with a 3 being an average read for me. I hope you find that helpful. Knowing, of course, that all opinions are just that - my opinion!  Let me know if you agree or disagree - I'd love to hear from you.

If you like what you see and want to keep up with me, subscribe below.  Happy Reading!
