Weekend Book Sharing and Blog Visits #46

It's the weekend, so it must be time to enjoy a few of my favorite book memes. This is a great opportunity for readers and bloggers to share what they've been up to - both newly received books, what you've read or want to read and any bookish or personal news/updates.

I'll be linking to: Stacking the Shelves is hosted every Saturday by Marlene @ Reading Reality The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb @ ReaderBuzz, Mailbox Monday hosted by Words and Peace is also a weekly gathering place to share new books received. Join me in visiting the wide array of book blogs in the world.

CHALLENGE and TBR UPDATE

An update on my 13 challenges:

I'm mostly on pace with most of the challenges. I'm about half way through many of them and not to the year halfway mark yet. So, I'm cautiously optimistic I'll reach most of the goals.

AND, of course I'm signing up for Chapter 2 of COYER that runs May 1 - Aug 31. This segment is a game where points are earned based on books you read, highest points for books owned - that should help motivate me to empty that Kindle a bit! Read here for more info and to participate.

PERSONAL UPDATE

Two things of note happened in the last week. We've seen the sun again after a long rainy spell, which reminded us we wanted to add an awning over our lower deck to provide some shade in the heat of summer. So we did some online research, found a local distributor and bought a motorized 13' awning that had to be assembled and installed by us. Dan's not terribly handy, but he managed to get it assembled and when our son came over for dinner, he helped lift it in place. There was some drama, some injury, some swearing, and ultimately, some success. It's supposed to be sunny and 70+ the next few days for the first time and we're eager to be warm and test out the awning!

Hope you have a most excellent upcoming week and hopefully find time to enjoy a good book. Though I missed last week and I'll be out of town Sun/Mon this week, I'll be visiting late and looking forward to visiting as many as I can!

Welcome to Bookshelf Journeys.

It's my goal to provide real reviews of the books I read without totally rehashing every plot. I'll never spoil a story by giving away a plot twist! Hopefully you'll find one or two of interest and will discover a new book or author to add to YOUR TBR list.  Take a moment to explore, read a couple reviews, and let me know what you think.

                            TIPS

For your convenience, I use #hashtags in the reviews and when you click on one, you'll find more books with that theme. Hopefully you'll find it a helpful way to navigate the site and find books you'll enjoy. I've also recently added tags that will show up at the end of each review that serve the same purpose.

The review ratings are based on a 5 star  (1/2 stars sometimes) system with a 3 being an average read for me. I hope you find that helpful. Knowing, of course, that all opinions are just that - my opinion!  Let me know if you agree or disagree - I'd love to hear from you.

If you like what you see and want to keep up with me, subscribe below.  Happy Reading!
