Weekend Book Sharing and Blog Visits #40

It's the weekend, so it must be time to enjoy a few of my favorite book memes. This is a great opportunity for readers and bloggers to share what they've been up to - both newly received books, what you've read or want to read and any bookish or personal news/updates.

I'll be linking to: Stacking the Shelves is hosted every Saturday by Marlene @ Reading Reality The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb @ ReaderBuzz, Mailbox Monday hosted by Words and Peace is also a weekly gathering place to share new books received. Join me in visiting the wide array of book blogs in the world.

CHALLENGE and TBR UPDATE

An update on my 13 challenges:

I added 14 books to my TBR wish list this week.

PERSONAL UPDATE

Three Good Things:

1 - I'm over my second bout with covid with no residual effects - which is great. I'm thankful it wasn't worse.

2 - after more than six months of unemployment, my eldest son found a job as an event planner again (now that people are gathering again)

3 - I'm a huge Pentatonix (acapella group) fan and they're coming to Washington this summer and I scored tickets!! It's my first concert in more years than I can remember and I'm excited to see them in person.

A PHOTO BY TERRIE PURKEY - REMEMBERING BALI (part 2)

We were in Bali a week and visited several temples - these are Tanah Lot (upper pic - the temple is only accessible during low tide!) and Uluwatu temples. We also enjoyed a couple of Balinese cultural dances that were just fascinating. Leaving Bali, we went on to spend a week in Sydney so I'll share those pics next week.

I have to say, we both caught some stomach bug in Bali and lost a couple days of sightseeing (we think we drank some unfiltered water). Still a great experience.

Have you visited either Bali or Sydney? What were your experiences?

Hope you have a most excellent upcoming week and hopefully finding time to enjoy a good book. Looking forward to visiting as many as I can again this week!

Welcome to Bookshelf Journeys.

It's my goal to provide real reviews of the books I read without totally rehashing every plot. I'll never spoil a story by giving away a plot twist! Hopefully you'll find one or two of interest and will discover a new book or author to add to YOUR TBR list.  Take a moment to explore, read a couple reviews, and let me know what you think.

                            TIPS

For your convenience, I use #hashtags in the reviews and when you click on one, you'll find more books with that theme. Hopefully you'll find it a helpful way to navigate the site and find books you'll enjoy. I've also recently added tags that will show up at the end of each review that serve the same purpose.

The review ratings are based on a 5 star  (1/2 stars sometimes) system with a 3 being an average read for me. I hope you find that helpful. Knowing, of course, that all opinions are just that - my opinion!  Let me know if you agree or disagree - I'd love to hear from you.

If you like what you see and want to keep up with me, subscribe below.  Happy Reading!
