Weekend Book Sharing and Blog Visits #39

It's the weekend, so it must be time to enjoy a few of my favorite book memes. This is a great opportunity for readers and bloggers to share what they've been up to - both newly received books, what you've read or want to read and any bookish or personal news/updates.

I'll be linking to: Stacking the Shelves is hosted every Saturday by Marlene @ Reading Reality The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb @ ReaderBuzz, Mailbox Monday hosted by Words and Peace is also a weekly gathering place to share new books received. Join me in visiting the wide array of book blogs in the world.

CHALLENGE and TBR UPDATE

An update on my 13 challenges:

I added 7 books to my TBR wish list this week (that's the least I've add in a week in months!).

PERSONAL UPDATE

Covid has struck our house AGAIN! I just got over it in January and another coworker came to work infected and I caught it again. I thought having had it was supposed to help provide a secondary layer of protection along with the vaccines. Apparently not for me. So, sick with BAD cold symptoms and spending more time in bed than in front of the computer! Hopefully it resolves quickly. I have stuff to do!

I'm thinking it must be time to retire and get away from the public! :)

PHOTOS BY TERRIE PURKEY - CELEBRATING BALI

To combat the dreary winter blues, I find myself remembering trips to tropical climes - like Bali a few years ago. The beach access points frequently had these carved stone 'markers' and the beaches were LOADED with bars that put out these comfy chairs facing the water and sunset. The umbrella color usually denoted a change from one bar to the next - often the bars are just little cabin sized buildings behind the chairs.

There are people that rake the beaches every early morning in preparation for the new day and to clear away all the trash that the tide brings in - which is a LOT!

And, it was HOT - that's one of the things with tropical vacations when visiting from a cooler climate - the contrast is extraordinary and you're never really prepared for how HOT it is! :)

Hope you have a most excellent upcoming week and hopefully finding time to enjoy a good book. Looking forward to visiting as many as I can again this week!

Welcome to Bookshelf Journeys.

It's my goal to provide real reviews of the books I read without totally rehashing every plot. I'll never spoil a story by giving away a plot twist! Hopefully you'll find one or two of interest and will discover a new book or author to add to YOUR TBR list.  Take a moment to explore, read a couple reviews, and let me know what you think.

                            TIPS

For your convenience, I use #hashtags in the reviews and when you click on one, you'll find more books with that theme. Hopefully you'll find it a helpful way to navigate the site and find books you'll enjoy. I've also recently added tags that will show up at the end of each review that serve the same purpose.

The review ratings are based on a 5 star  (1/2 stars sometimes) system with a 3 being an average read for me. I hope you find that helpful. Knowing, of course, that all opinions are just that - my opinion!  Let me know if you agree or disagree - I'd love to hear from you.
