Weekend Book Sharing and Blog Visits

It's the weekend, so it must be time to enjoy a few of my favorite book memes. This is a great opportunity for readers and bloggers to share what they've been up to - both bookish and personal.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted every Saturday by Marlene @ Reading Reality and promotes sharing books you actually received during the week - library, purchase, ARC, gift, etc. as well as what you think you might read in the upcoming week. The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and is a place to share posts, reviews, personal updates, etc. The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb @ ReaderBuzz is a similar format. Last, but not least, Mailbox Monday is also a weekly gathering place to share new books received. Join me in visiting the wide array of book blogs in the world.

CHALLENGE UPDATE

This year I just have two challenges: Beat the Backlist (books already on my TBR for at least a year) which I am totally struggling with. Of the 50 prompts suggested, I have read only 25. Sigh. I plan on getting to a few more before the end of the year, but......

The second challenge I just joined in October runs for the last quarter - COYER (clear out your e-reader) and the goal is to read at least half of the books I preselect to read before the end of the year. I chose 54 books to give myself options, so to successfully complete the challenge, I have to read a minimum of 27 from the list by the end of the year. Currently I'm 18/27.

PERSONAL UPDATE

This has been a very quiet week. Work, reading, blogging, enjoying Seattle fall sunshine and the gorgeous views of Mt. Rainier every day this week. Took the photo below of the mountain this week from my deck.

A PHOTO BY TERRIE PURKEY - CELEBRATING WASHINGTON

The fall trees in the foreground and the sunset glow on the side of the mountain - I never get tired of seeing it!

Hope you have a most excellent upcoming week and hopefully finding time to enjoy a good book. Looking forward to visiting as many as I can again this week!

Welcome to Bookshelf Journeys.

It's my goal to provide real reviews of the books I read without totally rehashing every plot. I'll never spoil a story by giving away a plot twist! Hopefully you'll find one or two of interest and will discover a new book or author to add to YOUR TBR list.  Take a moment to explore, read a couple reviews, and let me know what you think.

                            TIPS

For your convenience, I use #hashtags in the reviews and when you click on one, you'll find more books with that theme. Hopefully you'll find it a helpful way to navigate the site and find books you'll enjoy. I've also recently added tags that will show up at the end of each review that serve the same purpose.

The review ratings are based on a 5 star  (1/2 stars sometimes) system with a 3 being an average read for me. I hope you find that helpful. Knowing, of course, that all opinions are just that - my opinion!  Let me know if you agree or disagree - I'd love to hear from you.
