Stacking the Shelves #2, Sunday Post #2, Sunday Salon #2

It's the weekend, so it must be time to enjoy a few of my favorite book memes.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted every Saturday by Marlene @ Reading Reality and promotes sharing books you actually received during the week - library, purchase, ARC, gift, etc. The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and is a place to share posts, reviews, personal updates, etc. The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb @ ReaderBuzz is a similar format. Join me in visiting the wide array of book blogs in the world.

BOOKS I FINISHED LAST WEEK AND WHAT I'M READING NOW

FINISHED

Ariadne by Jennifer Saint

Genre: Greek mythology retelling

Published 2021, 320 pages

A stellar debut, this is Greek mythology about Ariadne, sister of the Minotaur, her betrayal for love, her relationship with her sister, her love with God Dionysus (god of wine and music), and putting women of the myths front and center. Review here.

FINISHED

The Berlin Girl by Mandy Robotham

Genre: Historical Fiction

Published 12/20, 308 pages

I seem to be reading a lot about women breaking their stereotypical expectations - this one an aspiring journalist who gets assigned to Berlin at the rise of Nazism. The cover makes it look like a romance - it's not.

Review here.

CURRENTLY READING:

PUBLISHED ON THE BLOG LAST WEEK

A full book review for The Women Of Chateau Lafayette, historical fiction.

A full book review of The Lost #3 Mace Reid, mystery (ARC).

FOUR THINGS THAT MADE ME HAPPY THIS WEEK

1 - A sunny day (just one, then the rain is back. sigh) We have had SUCH a we spring; we're all craving sun here in Seattle.

2 - We bought our house for the view and the mountain made an appearance and that ALWAYS makes me happy. Sunrise on Mt. Rainier - photo by me.

3 - The lower deck on our house didn't have a railing of any type and even though it's only 3' or so off the ground, I was always worried someone was going to fall into the flower beds. Hubby built a bench - it protects the edge, gives more seating, and can serve as a footrest or side table for food. We think it's a great solution!

4 - Seeing old friends! (visiting from Salt Lake City)

PERSONAL UPDATE

We have friends visiting from SLC this weekend. They are huge Boston Red Sox fans and the Sox are in town playing the Mariners. So, off to the ballpark we go! There will be lots of baseball in our house this weekend! Blogging is taking a back seat.

ONE OF MY PHOTOS

We planted a couple peonies late last summer and wasn't sure what we'd get this year. Well, lo and behold, we have some beautiful blooms!

I look forward to seeing what everyone else is reading and what's been happening in your lives! Have a fabulous week. Happy Reading.

Welcome to Bookshelf Journeys.

It's my goal to provide real reviews of the books I read without totally rehashing every plot. I'll never spoil a story by giving away a plot twist! Hopefully you'll find one or two of interest and will discover a new book or author to add to YOUR TBR list.  Take a moment to explore, read a couple reviews, and let me know what you think.

                            TIPS

For your convenience, I use #hashtags in the reviews and when you click on one, you'll find more books with that theme. Hopefully you'll find it a helpful way to navigate the site and find books you'll enjoy. I've also recently added tags that will show up at the end of each review that serve the same purpose.

The review ratings are based on a 5 star  (1/2 stars sometimes) system with a 3 being an average read for me. I hope you find that helpful. Knowing, of course, that all opinions are just that - my opinion!  Let me know if you agree or disagree - I'd love to hear from you.

If you like what you see and want to keep up with me, subscribe below.  Happy Reading!
