Stacking the Shelves #19, Sunday Post and Sunday Salon #19

It's the weekend, so it must be time to enjoy a few of my favorite book memes.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted every Saturday by Marlene @ Reading Reality and promotes sharing books you actually received during the week - library, purchase, ARC, gift, etc. as well as what you think you might read in the upcoming week. The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and is a place to share posts, reviews, personal updates, etc. The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb @ ReaderBuzz is a similar format. Join me in visiting the wide array of book blogs in the world.

CHALLENGE PROGRESS

I am still working my (too slowly) through the Beat The Backlog list I came up with earlier in the year in an effort to read more of books that are already on my TBR (see the challenge tab at the top of the page). And now, thanks to Anne at Books of My Heart, I'm joining the 4th quarter, fall reading challenge: COYER (Clean Out Your E-Reads) that breaks down the challenge into quarters and each quarter the rules change up a bit.

For fall, it opens up to any book in any format and offers three ways to participate. I'm choosing the "list" participation, which is that I create a list of books I anticipate reading by the end of the year and to succeed at the challenge, I need to complete at least half of them. Here's where you can learn more and sign up for the challenge too. My list is 54 books, of which I need to read at least half. I think I'll post my list up above in the Challenge tab as soon as I can get to it. There's a linky to share reviews of each book you read which means it's another chance for more TBR additions, but hey, that's partly why we're all here, right? Will I see you there?

PERSONAL UPDATE

The major thing in the Purkey household this week is that my husband, Dan, has written his 3rd book and it became a #1 Amazon Best Seller in a one-day presale event. His first book is a novel, Trackers, a futuristic mystery set in Seattle. His second book is a management book, Uncommon Sense Management. And this third book focuses on effective communication for both personal and professional situations. It is full of everyday tips and techniques to be a clearer, more effective communicator so you can avoid misunderstandings and stress (we use lots of these techniques at home!). Titled It's Not That Hard, Just Do This. the book will be available through Amazon by mid-November.

Hope you have a most excellent upcoming week and hopefully finding time to enjoy a good book. Looking forward to visiting as many as I can again this week!

Welcome to Bookshelf Journeys.

It's my goal to provide real reviews of the books I read without totally rehashing every plot. I'll never spoil a story by giving away a plot twist! Hopefully you'll find one or two of interest and will discover a new book or author to add to YOUR TBR list.  Take a moment to explore, read a couple reviews, and let me know what you think.

                            TIPS

For your convenience, I use #hashtags in the reviews and when you click on one, you'll find more books with that theme. Hopefully you'll find it a helpful way to navigate the site and find books you'll enjoy. I've also recently added tags that will show up at the end of each review that serve the same purpose.

The review ratings are based on a 5 star  (1/2 stars sometimes) system with a 3 being an average read for me. I hope you find that helpful. Knowing, of course, that all opinions are just that - my opinion!  Let me know if you agree or disagree - I'd love to hear from you.
