Read the World: Some Reading is Lined Up (pt 2)

Earlier this year I committed and shared here that I have set the personal goal to read a book from every country in the world over the next few years. I feel like it's going to be a bit impossible to complete because some of the smaller countries aren't going to have translated works available, but I'm going to do my best. You can follow my progress in the Challenges tab at the top of the page, then click Read the World.

WARNING: THIS IS A LONGER THAN USUAL POST

As I always do with a project, I started with a spreadsheet (how else am I going to keep track??). My antennae are on high alert, trying to be aware of any/all possibilities of books from anywhere in the world. As you'd imagine, some countries are VERY easy - Canada, Germany, Mexico, Spain, France, even some African countries like Nigeria and Ghana have a large representation of books from which to choose. BUT, there are oh-so-many countries that are going to be a challenge.

So, I'm asking you to keep my challenge in the back of your mind and if you come across a book either written by an author or set in a particularly unusual country, drop me a comment or email and share the book title. It will be appreciated. My current fledgling list has a variety of genres, written in different eras, and I'm eager to dive in.

Because I think just a list of titles isn't very interesting or pretty, I've added covers - but this time I didn't take the time to actually link to the books (too time consuming). I hope if you see something appealing, you'll search it yourself.

I'll break my list into 3 parts, countries starting with A-G; H-N; O-Z

Haiti Haiti (2) Honduras Hungary Hungary (2)

Iceland Iceland (2) India (read) Indonesia Iran

Ireland Ireland (2) Israel (read) Italy Jamaica

Japan Japan (2) Kenya Lebanon Malaysia

Malaysia (2) Mexico Mexico (2) Morocco Mozambique

Mozambique (2) Myanmar N. Korea Netherlands Netherlands(2)

New Zealand New Zealand(2) Newfoundland (read) Niger Nigeria

Nigeria (2) Norway Norway (2)

H-N countries that still need a book recommendation:

Hong Kong, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kosovo, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Malta, Marshall Islands, Mauriitania,

Marutius, Moldova, Nicaragua, Northern Ireland, Republic of N Macedonia,

So that's the second third of my starting list of books; the last section is coming soon - Remember, I'll add a tracking page at the top under the Challenges tab so you can follow along and maybe even start your own Read the World.

Welcome to Bookshelf Journeys.

It's my goal to provide real reviews of the books I read without totally rehashing every plot. I'll never spoil a story by giving away a plot twist! Hopefully you'll find one or two of interest and will discover a new book or author to add to YOUR TBR list.  Take a moment to explore, read a couple reviews, and let me know what you think.

                            TIPS

For your convenience, I use #hashtags in the reviews and when you click on one, you'll find more books with that theme. Hopefully you'll find it a helpful way to navigate the site and find books you'll enjoy. I've also recently added tags that will show up at the end of each review that serve the same purpose.

The review ratings are based on a 5 star  (1/2 stars sometimes) system with a 3 being an average read for me. I hope you find that helpful. Knowing, of course, that all opinions are just that - my opinion!  Let me know if you agree or disagree - I'd love to hear from you.

If you like what you see and want to keep up with me, subscribe below.  Happy Reading!
