Never Have I Ever: A little chick lit, a little twisty thriller, definitely a fun read

“I thinned and dwindled, and though I was wan and weak, my skin a little loose on my young frame, I finally looked like a daughter that my mother might have wanted. But what I had done could not be shed, and her gaze still slid toward me and away, glancing off air, never quite landing on me, as if my edges were still two feet farther out than my surface.”
A new neighbor joins the "mommies" book club and proceeds to poke and prod at everyone's secrets in an effort to get what she wants. The characters in this book are all so well written; you feel like you know each one of them. When Amy is young, drunk, and high she is involved in a tragic accident.

“People say, I don’t know how she lives with herself, but every single one of them was living with their own worst thing, just fine. No one walks around holding their ugliest sin in the palm of their hand, staring at it.”
Years later, she’s happily married with a baby and step-daughter. She has kept the devastating tragedy a secret from everyone she knows and now her new neighbor Roux is threatening to expose it. Blackmail, cat and mouse actions, lies, broken promises – these two women go through it all. They switch between hating each other and admiring each other. Surprises and story twists keep you guessing about what really happened and what’s going to happen.
Do you like a plot that keeps you guessing and characters that are fun to hate and characters that you are really rooting for? Love a good twist? Do you have a fave similar to this? Let us know in the comments.
